Hope

Hope is an 8 year old Shepherd mix who was abandoned when she got sick. She is leishmania positive but has received her treatment and blood tests have shown that her organs are still okay. After being abandoned, she wanted to return to her family so badly that she jumped into a strangers car when she had the chance, which was when she was brought to the shelter for protection.

Hope needs to be the only pet in the house as she has been trained as a guard dog and would love to have a house to protect! She is a playful sweetheart who loves water and patrolling her property, but sadly is aggressive towards cats especially. She is okay with some dogs but doesn’t always realize her size so can play a little too rough. Due to this we recommend a house with no other dogs.

We are looking for a family that doesn't mind her guarding behavior, but will not use her as a guard dog. We want her to finally be able to experience the warmth of a home, not living outside or in a cage. Preferably she'd live somewhere far away from busy streets and city noise, because she does bark due to her police dog experience. She's not aggressive towards humans, but she hasn't been tested with children, so we don’t recommend her with small children.

Due to her leishmania, she will need to get regular blood tests every (6 months-1 year) to make sure that her organs stay in good shape. She is ready to find her forever home and would love to join them soon! If you have a place for Hope, please get in touch!
